Our growing choir program needs a larger, more functional space to accommodate high interest and the ongoing impact on students. This dynamic new space will serve choir, theatre, and dance programs, including:
A studio with practice and small performance space
Organized space for storage, clothing, and equipment
Flexible space for other co-curricular activities to meet a variety of needs, such as club and organizational meetings
Additional space for growing arts programs, freeing up existing space in Cunningham Fine Arts Center for expansion of band/orchestra practice room and storage
Growing Creativity, Confidence, and Character
Cathedral engages students holistically through arts and academics. In performing arts, the unique culture supports and encourages students to stretch creatively, work together, and for many, try something new that will expand their minds.
It’s simple. Our students need a larger, safe space for practice and designated storage areas. Investing in these basic needs will result in the gift of memorable performances for our community and lifelong lessons and relationships that will shape the future for our students.
Why Performing Arts?
Music is a universal language. It spans every community, every culture, every walk of life. It brings people together and it brings us joy. The performing arts have great value beyond the stage—and at Cathedral, students can engage in rich programs that build their confidence and resilience, teach crucial skills, and foster deep community.
The research is clear ... performing arts students are more likely to have:
higher academic success
better attendance
enhanced problem-solving skills
confidence and better social skills
greater participation in academics and creative endeavors
For some students, it can change their life.
“Music was my only outlet after I lost my father unexpectedly. He was a music educator, so it was also a way to honor him. I was involved in choir, theatre, and dance at Cathedral—it always felt like a second home to me, and I was encouraged to chase my dreams. I learned so many life lessons from those experiences. Now I’m pursuing musical theatre at Indiana University, working with the creative team at Cathedral, and I recently secured my f irst professional audition.”

More than 375 CHS students with diverse interests create and learn together in performing arts classes and clubs—and the successful programs continue to grow.
That is why Cathedral is committed to providing the best experience possible to these students who pursue the arts while learning invaluable life lessons.
