Fund-A-Need: Johnny Mac's Coffeehouse

rendering of the cathedral coffee house

As we continue to seek out opportunities to grow and provide unique experiences for our students we are excited to share the plans for a Cathedral Coffeehouse. Students will gain real life experience in budgeting, inventory, marketing, staffing, market research, and, of course, brewing coffee! While students will continue to focus on the Coffeehouse business plan, the ShamrAuction Fund-A-Need will aim to raise the capital needed to renovate a portion of A.K. Shiel Student Life Center providing the seed money to make this "cafe with cause" a reality.

1990 Cathedral graduate, Johnny McCormick, was a special man who was a devoted husband and father to three boys, and he was a high school teacher in Indianapolis where he left a lasting impression on so many students. He was a business teacher whose passion was to make certain that his students knew how to “get along in life”, especially being able to understand finances, starting with the basics of managing a bank checking account. John started student operated coffee houses in three high schools in Indianapolis

After a long battle with cancer John died in 2016 at the height of his career.  He left a wonderful legacy.

We are proud to share that Cathedral’s coffeehouse will be named “Johnny Mac’s Coffeehouse” to continue Johnny Mac’s legacy at Cathedral.

Please help us raise the fund needed to honor Johnny Mac and also provide students with hands-on learning experience at Johnny Mac’s Coffeehouse.
