Cathedral Travel Policy
January 14, 2021 - 11:00 a.m.

As of 1/14/2021, Cathedral High School does not have a travel restriction within the continental United States. We do ask that if you choose to travel that you practice all of the COVID safety standards and that you monitor your student closely upon return. Please be diligent in checking your child every day for covid symptoms and do daily temperature checks.  As a reminder, Covid symptoms are any ONE of the following:

  • new onset cough
  • headache
  • sore throat
  • stomachache/nausea/vomiting/diarrhea or stomach pain
  • head congestion/sinus issues
  • red eye
  • dizziness
  • fatigue
  • fever
  • rash

Not everyone with COVID has a fever and sometimes just experience mild cold symptoms. If you or your student are experiencing any symptoms or know that you have been exposed, please contact the nurse before returning to school.

Travel outside of the U.S., including Canada and Mexico, require a two week quarantine upon return.

Quarantine Guidance
December 8, 2020 - 2:00 p.m.

The CDC recommends a 14-day quarantine, but the CDC has given us some leeway to do a 10 day quarantine if the person has never had any symptoms. If a student returns after 10 days a mask must be worn 100% of the time for 4 additional days, even while playing sports or participating in any activity except eating. The student will also need to maintain social distancing at all times from friends, teammates and staff until the original 14 day quarantine is completed. We will NOT allow a 7 day quarantine scenario.

Persons can discontinue quarantine at these time points only if the following criteria are also met:

  • The person has shown no symptoms of COVID-19 at any point during the entirety of quarantine up to the time at which quarantine is discontinued; and,
  • Daily symptom monitoring continues through quarantine Day 14 and,
  • All recommended preventive measures continue through Day 14 of quarantine:
    • Practice good hand hygiene by washing with soap and water for a least 20 seconds or using a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol
    • Stay at least 6 feet (about 2 arms’ length) from other people
    • Wear a mask over your nose and mouth when around others
    • Clean frequently touched surfaces often

f you are able, the safest option is to follow previous guidance and quarantine for 14 days without testing.
