Faith and Service

Cathedral educating hearts and minds

Cathedral High School is part of an international network of Holy Cross high schools and colleges throughout the United States and the world, with the best-known perhaps being the University of Notre Dame. Our tradition is based on the philosophy of educating both hearts and minds. At Cathedral, education lies not just in academic excellence, but also with the competence to see and understand and then having the courage to act to make the world a better place.

Helping young people develop spiritually is one of the missions of Cathedral High School ever since our founding by the Brothers of Holy Cross in 1918. We welcome students of all faith traditions as part of our mission, as well. Approximately 20 percent of the student body comes from different backgrounds, giving all our students the opportunity to learn and interact in a religiously diverse environment.

Christian Service Hours in Response to COVID-19

On Thursday, March 12, Cathedral High School suspended all in-person classes, meetings, athletic practices/competitions, extracurricular activities, and events until April 14. At this time, our Christian Service Program is suspending hours. Students should not be accumulating service hours at this time.

We will update you as soon as we have more answers. In the meantime, please keep those who are ill, our healthcare professionals, and our world in your prayers.

More information will be sent from Julie Barthel and Shannon Fox. If you have any questions please reach out to Shannon Fox.

Kindness Project

Students, please think about encouraging your friends and family to join in making cards. Get out your colored markers, pencils and crayons to make HAPPY cards, even Easter Cards, with notes of friendship and encouragement in these times of being distanced from friends and family. We are a people of gathering to celebrating family and friends and even though we cannot be together in person, we can still communicate.

Drop off letters/pictures in mailboxes of grandparents, relatives, neighbors, and most of all senior living centers near you and hospitals! Our Healthcare Works at Hospitals need words of Gratitude. Our seniors are experiencing anxiety/depression so they need our encouragement! When dropping cards at hospitals put them in a larger envelope with your name, Cathedral HS student and "cards for those in need of encouragement."

Every four cards made & delivered is one service hour. Please attach photo of cards and delivering as we would like to make a slideshow.
