Pride of the Irish Marching Band
The "Pride of the Irish"serves as the instrumental musical ambassador of Cathedral High School, bringing energy, tradition, and spirit to the community. Whether performing at football games, basketball games, or on stage, the marching band continues to entertain and inspire. Cathedral’s band program has consistently earned Division I ratings in music contests across the state, a testament to the talent and dedication of our student musicians.
All band students are actively involved in Concert Band, Pep Band, and the ISSMA District Solo and Ensemble Contest. The Concert Band performs at two major concerts each year and competes in the ISSMA District Organizational Contest. The Pep Band adds excitement, energy, and fun to varsity basketball games, creating an electric atmosphere that brings the student body together.
Beyond these core ensembles, many students choose to participate in Jazz Band, as well as specialized woodwind, brass, and percussion groups. Students are also encouraged to audition for prestigious honor bands, including the IMEA Honor Band, Indiana All-State Band, Butler University All-Star Honor Band, Ball State High School Honor Band, and the Indiana All-Star Marching Band.
More than just a musical pursuit, being part of the Cathedral Band gives students a deep sense of belonging. From early rehearsals to halftime shows, students form lasting friendships, build confidence, and find a welcoming community where they can be themselves.
