Alumni Board
The Cathedral High School Alumni Association seeks to reach, serve, and engage all Cathedral alumni, students, parents, and friends to strengthen their relationships with one another and to foster a sense of the Cathedral family; to nurture a lifelong intellectual, spiritual, and emotional connection between Cathedral and her graduates to provide Cathedral High School with goodwill and support as her ambassadors.
Orin Edwards '20
Orin Edwards '20 is a proud Cathedral alumni honored to carry on the legacy. Growing up in Zionsville schools, Orin made the bold decision to attend Cathedral High School without knowing anyone. The decision was well worth it, as he became a 3-year starting Quarterback for the Irish and broke numerous passing records during his tenure. He went on to play 4 years of football at Miami Ohio, while studying biology. Currently, he has since returned to Indianapolis while building his career in Real Estate. He brings a unique combination of discipline, teamwork, and dedication to his real estate career, stating these qualities, honed through both academics and athletics, are the foundation of his approach to serving clients and achieving success in every transaction. His deep connections and extensive knowledge of the local community, as well as his robust network and reputation as a natural "connector" allows Orin to always know just the right person to help get the job done.
Matt Elliott '08
Matt Elliott ‘08 is an attorney with Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP, where he focuses on business litigation and regulatory investigations. Prior to private practice, Matt worked in various roles in Indiana state government, including the Office of the Attorney General, Office of the Governor, and the Indiana House of Representatives. He and his wife, Kelley Leyden ‘08 Elliott, have two children and are members of St. Luke Catholic Church.
Brittany Hizer '00
Brittany Hizer ‘00 spent most of her career designing and innovating commercial exercise equipment found in health clubs around the world for Life Fitness, a former Brunswick Corporation. After graduating from the Kellogg School of Management Executive Program, Brittany pivoted from fitness to fishing as the President of Crestliner. She is now the Co-Founder and COO of Pluie, the world's first and only self-sanitizing diaper changing table for public restrooms, and has recently been featured by Indiana media outlets. As a 2000 Cathedral graduate and former class president, she continues to stay involved as the class reunion coordinator and is honored to further support Cathedral's mission. She has always deeply valued and prioritized the lifelong connections that she established at Cathedral. Brittany and her husband, Amit Tripathi, currently reside in Chicago with their son, Ketan.
Colleen Ryan '02 Lotz
Colleen Ryan '02 Lotz has been a member of the Alumni Board since 2019. Her dad is Ed Ryan '69. After attending Cathedral, Colleen studied Broadcast/Journalism at the University of Missouri. After graduation, she moved to St. Louis and started her producing career with Fox Sports Midwest. At Fox Sports, Colleen covered the Cardinals, Royals, Blues, Rams, various college and high school teams. She is a 4-time Emmy Award Winner. Colleen and her family moved home to Indy in 2019 where she continues to freelance for Bally Sports. She is also the Marketing Director for Hope Plumbing. Colleen is married to Scott and they have 3 kids who cannot wait to attend Cathedral! Her favorite part about Cathedral is hands down the unbelievable lifelong connections!
Eric D. Saunders ‘01
Eric D. Saunders ‘01 is known across the Indianapolis community as a servant leader, artist, husband and father. This Indianapolis native aspires to live out his universal purpose on a local platform through community advocacy, artistry and volunteerism. Eric’s academic foundation evolved his education and social connections. He attended Crispus Attucks Middle School, and went on to graduate from Cathedral High School locally. He then went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana majoring in African American African Diaspora Studies and Communication and Culture. Eric’s community work has fueled his passion and talents as a Spoken Word Artist. This artistry has opened up many doors as he is currently the co-host for Teas Me The Artist Youth Open Mic, and the primary host for the Open Mic & Bite. As a published artist, he customizes poetry that has led to multiple presentations for special events near and far.
Samantha Brewer ‘95 Schwartz
Samantha Brewer ‘95 Schwartz is the Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of THE PLAID AGENCY, an Indianapolis award-winning, full-service marketing and advertising agency. Samantha co-founded PLAID after an expansive career within the healthcare marketing sector— including numerous leadership roles within Avant Healthcare Marketing, Deborah Wood Communications Group and Eli Lilly. Because of her leadership and advancements in marketing, technology and product launch, Samantha was named a 2013 Women in Hi-Tech Award Nominee, an IBJ 40 under 40 award nominee, as well as a recipient of several PSRA and Davey honors.
As 1995 editor-in-chief, Samantha led Cathedral’s The Megaphone to national journalism recognition; she went on to graduate with highest distinction from Indiana University, where she was elected to the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa honor society upon graduation.
Kourtney Steppe '16
Kourtney Steppe '16 is a 2020 Magna Cum Laude graduate of Spelman College, born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. She currently serves as the Product Compliance Associate on the Legal and Compliance team at Vouch Insurance. Kourtney has remained actively involved in the Indianapolis community and Cathedral through various service initiatives and events. Aside from her presence in the community, Kourtney is a member of the UNCF Masked Ball Gala committee, Co-Chair for the Circle City Classic Coronation, a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and is the 2022 Miss Princess of America.
Kristi Graves ‘81 Steppe
Kristi Graves ‘81 Steppe is a graduate of Purdue University and is currently employed at Indiana University Health Hospital as an IT Director. She is the past President of the Cathedral Black Alumni Council and has served on the Cathedral Alumni Association Board since 2008. Kristi has been married for 30 years to Edward Steppe III and both of her children, Edward Steppe IV (2012) and Kourtney Steppe (2016) are also alumni of CHS. Kristi has served as a past board member for Father’s/Families, Education committee member for the Beautillion Militaire Scholarship Program, and most recently a member of the UNCF Masked Ball Gala committee.
