How to Apply

Step 1

Step 1: Submit an Application for Admission

To apply for admission, families create an account in the online portal to access the application. There is no application fee.

Step 2

Step 2: Complete Additional Checklist Items

After the Admissions Office has processed your Application, you will be be able to access the application checklist. Below is a list of required items, along with due dates for Early Admission and for Regular Admission.

  • Copy of the student's 7th-grade report card and most recent 8th-grade report card

    Early Admission—please submit by October 1
    Regular Admission—please submit by December 15
     
  • Copy of the student's 7th grade ISTEP/ILEARN results (or comparable testing if the student's school does not administer ISTEP/ILEARN)

    Early Admission—please submit by October 1
    Regular Admission—please submit by December 15
     
  • At least two (2) recommendations, which are done electronically, from the student's current teachers, counselor, and/or principal

    Early Admission—please submit by October 31
    Regular Admission—please submit by January 15

Step 3

Step 3: Submit High School Placement Test Results

Each applicant must provide results from the High School Placement Test (no later than October 31 for Early Admission candidates). These results can be from Cathedral's High School Placement Test Summer Academy, from our October test date, or results from a High School Placement Test (HSPT) taken at another school.

Please note: Results from the spring High School Placement Test taken at Bishop Chatard High School are not considered valid placement test results for admission to Cathedral High School and/or for consideration for merit scholarships at Cathedral High School, as these scores are percentiles that are normed against 7th-grade norms instead of 8th-grade norms.

Step 4

Step 4: Complete an Interview

Each applicant for admission to Cathedral High School must complete an interview. The Admission Office will email each candidate's family to schedule an interview following the application deadline. A parent or guardian is required to join the student for the interview. Interviews will take place on the following dates:

  • Early Admission Interviews —Sunday, October 20, 2019
  • Regular Admission Interviews —Sunday, January 12, 2020

Step 5

Step 5: Receive an Admissions Decision

The Cathedral Admissions Office will send official admissions decisions via mail. 

  • Early Admission (October 1 deadline) decisions will be released the week of Thanksgiving
  • Regular Admission (December 15 deadline) decisions will be released the first week of February

Step 6

Step 6: Enroll and Join the Class of 2024 at Cathedral!

As soon as a student receives their acceptance, enrollment can be confirmed on the student application portal. Admitted students have until March 1 to finalize enrollment at Cathedral High School for the 2020-2021 school year.
