2026/27 Block Schedule

After much consideration, discussion, and analysis of data, Cathedral will move to a modified block schedule for the 2026/27 school year. The 8 periods will be broken into blue days consisting of periods 1-4 and gold days with periods 5-8. The default for block schedule days will be 85 minute classes. Twice a week, we will have 65 minute class periods in order to accommodate special schedules, pull outs, clubs, advisory, and office hours. One a week we will have a green day in which you see all 8 periods for 40 minutes. This means in a typical five-day week, Monday would be a green day (all classes meet), Tuesday would be Blue (85), Wednesday would be Gold (85), Thursday would be Blue (65), and Friday would be Gold (65).

The benefits of this bell schedule include built in time for advisory/CORE, office hours, and clubs. It also has less transition times, longer lunch periods, reduces the need for special schedules, and will hopefully add consistency to the week and day-to-day. Moreover, because this schedule allows for a more consistent week, this allows students the potential to explore more career and dual enrollment opportunities.
