Learning Support Program

The Learning Support Program serves a total caseload of approximately 240 students, which represents about 20% of Cathedral's student body. Our dedicated staff of educators, case managers, and counselors aim to provide high-quality special education & related services, in a manner that is current, compliant, effective, and reflective of our Holy Cross values. Our goal is to support the academic, spiritual, and emotional needs of every student on our caseload, so that each individual has equitable opportunities to engage with a rich curriculum, an understanding of their own extraordinary potential, and the confidence to share their gifts and talents with others.

Special Education & Related Services (IEP/SP/CSEP)

Upon enrollment, students with an active IEP, SP, or CSEP are assigned a counselor and case manager to support their academic journey at Cathedral. Learning Support Program case managers also serve as educators in the Learning Resource Center.

Prospective families: please include your child’s current education plan (SP, CSEP, or IEP) and most recent psychoeducational evaluation when completing the >application to Cathedral.

Section 504 Plans

A 504 plan provides specific accommodations, which allow a student with a qualifying disability to access the curriculum. This type of plan differs from a special education plan, such as a SP, CSEP, or IEP. The student must have a health impairment that limits life activities, including (but not limited to) food allergies, asthma, diabetes, anxiety, ADHD, or gastrointestinal disorders.

To determine whether your child qualifies for a 504 plan, an evaluation that includes medical documentation (provided by parent/guardian), educator feedback, and student classroom observation is conducted. Once the evaluation is complete, the multidisciplinary team meets to determine the best plan for the student.
