Principal's Message

November 17, 2022

Dear Cathedral Parents and Guardians,

It's hard to believe next week is Thanksgiving! We certainly have much to be thankful for on the Hill, starting with our outstanding students, families, and gifted educators!

We are blessed to have a lovely campus nestled on a beautiful Hill. But as safe and secure as we feel on the Hill, we know we must prepare for all scenarios, then pray that we'll never have to put our planning into action. To that end, we will have an active shooter drill on the morning of Friday, December 2. This "Run, Hide, Fight" exercise is part of our comprehensive safety plan and another layer of our protocols to keep our campus safe.

Also, since I will not send a Parent Newsletter next week, I'd like to share the finals schedule with you.

Wednesday, 12/14  SPECIAL REVIEW DAY SCHEDULE (Alpha and A review day)
Thursday, 12/15 - Alpha and A Final - B and C Review
Friday, 12/16 - B and C Final - D and E Review
Monday, 12/19 - D and E Final - F and G Review
Tuesday, 12/20 - F and G Final (Early Dismissal - 12:05 p.m.)

Our Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors have been busy meeting with their counselors and selecting courses for next year. We are thrilled to offer several new courses for the 2023/24 academic year. New classes are listed in the course guide on our website.

Please remind your student that tomorrow morning (Friday, November 18) is the last day of the canned food drive. Canned goods must be dropped off in the Welch Activity Center between 7:45 - 8:25 a.m.

I hope to see you this weekend as our fabulous theatre department presents Puffs: Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic. Show times are Friday, November 18, at 7 p.m.; Saturday, November 19, at 7 p.m.; and Sunday, November 20, at 2 p.m. Get your tickets today!

During this season of thanks, I am grateful for your support, prayers, and encouragement. May God bless you and your family with a Happy Thanksgiving!

God bless, and Go Irish!

Dr. Mykee Fowlin Visits Cathedral

Dr. Mykee Fowlin was the featured speaker for our MultiCultural Assembly this week. Dr. Fowlin spoke to students about turning their pain into something valuable to change the world. He also talked about how a simple smile or acknowledgment of someone's existence can have a powerful impact on a friend. Dr. Fowlin told students, "We need to stand with each other, not for each other."
