Greetings to all fans of the Cathedral Fighting Irish!
Welcome to our Web site! Here you will find information about all of our sports offered at Cathedral High School. There are 10 IHSAA sports for boys; Nine IHSAA sports for girls; five club sports for boys; three club sports for girls.
We are very proud of our athletic tradition at Cathedral High School. Our teams boast 23 IHSAA State Championship Titles and 19 Club State Championships. The Irish have earned seven state championships in football, six in girls volleyball, two in girls basketball, two in baseball, two in girls soccer, and one each in girls tennis, boys tennis, boys basketball, and boys golf. Our student athletes have won individual state championships in girls tennis, boys tennis, boys swimming, boys track, girls track, and wrestling.
In club sports we have won 8 state titles in boys volleyball, four in hockey, six in rugby and one in boys lacrosse.
At Cathedral High School, we believe there are many valuable lessons to be learned through participation in athletics. Teamwork, time management, cooperation, and service are just a few of the words used by our graduates to describe what they gained through their involvement. We have numerous athletes who have gone on to participate in athletics at the collegiate and professional levels.
There are 14 student athletes who brought honor to themselves, their families, and Cathedral High School by being named recipients of the IHSAA Mental Attitude Award in the sports of football, volleyball, girls track, baseball, girls soccer and boys basketball. This is a most impressive honor because it recognizes the athletes for their academic record and extracurricular activities, in addition to success in their sport.
