Faith Formation Summer Opportunities

Missionary Disciples Institute

MDI is a week-long institute designed for 50 high school students who are highly engaged, seriously committed, and looking to take the next step as leaders in ministry. Here are several reasons to consider joining us for the first ever MDI:

The date for MDI is June 12-17, 2017. Registration will remain open until March 1, 2017. Space is limited to 50 students.

If you have any questions please see Mrs. Lewis or Mrs. Witka.

Notre Dame Vision

We invite you to join us for a week on the campus of the University of Notre Dame.  Here, 70 of our own college students will lead you in an exploration of God’s call and the ways in which you can respond to this call with your own gifts.  You will have a chance to immerse yourself in the spiritually and communally rich environment of the University.  You will benefit from some of the best speakers from across campus and across the country whose stories, witness, and humor will challenge you to expand your imagination and deepen your faith.  Whether you are in our large group setting as one of 360 teenagers from across the country or in the small group with 7 other teens your own age, you will find yourself in a vibrant and welcoming community that is committed to authentic prayer, good conversations, and real life issues.  When you’re ready, submit your application to join us this summer!  And check out the Emerging Leaders Scholarship along with our new two-week program called Saints & Scholars. Parents, we have additional information for you.

Notre Dame Vision is for all high school students. Everyone wants to know who they are and where they are going in life. Notre Dame Vision helps young people on this journey. Participants may come alone, with a few friends, or in groups of five or more. Notre Dame Vision is open to students entering grades 9-12 in the fall of 2017 or graduating high school in the spring of 2017.

One Bread, One Cup

"One Bread, One Cup" is a five-day liturgical leadership conference focusing on the Word, Sacrament and Mission of the Roman Catholic Church for high school youth groups and their campus and youth ministers. Conferences focus on community building, leadership development, catechesis, liturgical and spiritual formation, and theological reflection.

There are opportunities for personal prayer and contemplation, liturgical prayer, charity and action, and vocational discernment while living and actively participating in an intentional Christian community.

At the conferences, youth and adults discover the Church's treasures of Word, Sacrament and Mission and enjoy opportunities for fellowship and fun through team building, outdoor recreation, a variety show and a dance. Participants come to appreciate the Benedictine balance of prayer, work and recreation.

To secure your group's reservation, the sponsoring Parish/High School Group Registration Form must be received by March 1, 2017.

Embody: Beauty, Justice, and Faith in Action

EMBODY IS A WEEK FILLED WITH MANY THINGS

•Theological reflection led by outstanding faculty from Saint Mary’s College and beyond
•Interactive sessions that incorporate what you learn into your life
•Opportunities for engagement with the South Bend community through service

EXPLORE THEMES RELATED TO BEING A YOUNG WOMAN OF FAITH

•Talking about our bodies and how they help us live out our values
•Examining what it means to love and how our relationship are integral to a life of faith
•Being challenged to go beyond our comfort zone and into relationships with people who seem different

Finally, we’ll make a commitment to live out what’s learned during the week…and continue to grow in faith and compassion!

All of this takes place on the campus of Saint Mary's College, where you will experience its residence halls, dining halls, professors, and more. Your mentors will be a group of creative, energetic and faithful college students who are also on this journey. Embody is open to all young women who will be sophomores, juniors and seniors in the fall of 2017. And the cost to attend is only $180, thanks to the generosity of the Lilly Endowment, Inc.

For more information, contact the Embody staff at embody@saintmarys.edu or call 574-284-5389.

Embody: Beauty, Justice and Faith in Action is supported by a grant by the Lilly Endowment, Inc. Initiative: Theology for High School Youth.
