Annual fundraising is the most essential aspect of advancement at Cathedral High School, as this effort allows the school to continue to fulfill the mission of enrolling students from all walks of life, ensuring affordability, attracting phenomenal teachers and providing the space in which to change lives.
The following activities generate annual support to a family of funds in support of educational initiatives not fully covered by tuition alone.
The Cathedral Fund
The Cathedral Fund consists of all unrestricted gifts to Cathedral. Advancement staff members meet individually to ask for support, send mailings, issue links to online giving and conduct student phone-a-thons in an effort to encourage Cathedral constituents to help make a Cathedral education possible.

Emerald Isle Society (Up to $999)
Though we count on your leadership, we never take it for granted. Donors of $1,000(+) to the Cathedral Fund are considered Trustee Level contributors. Trustees are stakeholders in Cathedral and stay closely connected with Cathedral through:
- an annual invite only elegant Thanks for Giving reception hosted by the President and Board of Directors;
- recognition in the Emerald Isle Annual Report;
- a distinctive annual momento;
- a Trustee Pass issuing complimentary access (for two) to most home athletic contests and theatrical performances;
- and, most importantly, the knowledge that a Trustee level contribution helps to ensure Cathedral's continued excellence for future generations.
Cathedral Fund Notes
Participation is renewed annually. The Cathedral Fund follows a July 1-June 30 fiscal year calendar. Cathedral High School is classified as a 501(c)3 Nonprofit Organization (Tax ID #35-6254955), therefore all Cathedral Fund contributions are tax-deductible. Corporate and matching gifts are applied toward an individual donors annual giving. Pledges must be paid by June 30 for Annual Report recognition.

Scholarship Granting Organization (Indiana Residents Only)
New Indiana tax rule provides that a School Scholarship Tax Credit be available to individuals or corporations who donate to a Scholarship Granting Organization for the purpose of supporting Cathedral's students. All SGO donations are eligible for a 50% STATE TAX CREDIT (not a deduction) which allows donors to minimize state taxes paid on a current year's income. In addition, the balance of the donations is then eligible for a FEDERAL TAX DEDUCTION. For more information or to make a gift to a participating SGO please visit our SGO section of the website.
As a private/independent institution Cathedral does NOT receive public funding or Archdiocesan subsidies and instead relies on annual tax-deductible contributions to the Cathedral Fund to provide critical support to the operating budget by offsetting expenses not covered by tuition. Gifts to our Cathedral Fund enable us to continue to fulfill the mission of enrolling students from all walks of life, ensuring affordability, attracting phenomenal teachers, and providing the space in which to change lives.
Each year, members of the Cathedral family and the community attend one or more of the various event fundraisers. The most prominent of these events is the annual ShamrAuction, while there are others such as Trivia Night and the Father Kelly Tradition Golf Outing. Cathedral students help support the diversity of their very own student body by participating in the annual Luck of the Leprechaun - Student Raffle each year (2014 Raffle ID #134089). As the endowment grows, the pressure on annual fundraising will decrease, since 5% of the endowment balance is used to support annual needs.
