ChoirsAdvanced ChoirThis course is an advanced vocal course that provides group and individual instruction designed to develop the skills necessary to perform a widely varied repertoire of ensemble and solo literature. An emphasis will be placed on vocal technique through performance. Preparation for performance will include a study of the historical, formal, analytical and stylistic elements of each composition. Required rehearsals and performances. | Beginning Chorus | | This is a group vocal experience to develop musicianship and specific performance skills such as posture, tone production, breathing and vocal techniques, and intonation through ensemble literature. Students will further their ability to listen, analyze and sight sing. An emphasis is placed on the development of artistic and aesthetic perception. Limited required rehearsals and performances. | Gospel Choir | | This choir is a mixed-voices group emphasizing various styles of gospel music. Cathedral's Gospel Choir appears at events across the city and is recognized as one of the best in Indianapolis. All students are welcome to join the choir, and honors credit may be awarded to students in their fifth-eighth semesters. | Intermediate Chorus: Pop Swing | | Pop Swing is a continuation of Beginning Chorus with an added emphasis on pop music with the addition of choreography. Required rehearsals and performances. | Liturgical Choir | | This is a group vocal experience designed to develop musicianship and specific vocal skills, while providing the music for all of Cathedral's all-school Masses. No prior vocal experience is required |
